The NATO starbase was annihilated by an armada of Tholian vessels, leaving the Special Fleet without a command structure. In the middle of the battle, Captain Agnes Rodriguez, who had been in a coma until then, reappeared on the bridge and ordered a warp escape. Propelled by an unknown force, USS Enterprise reached a speed beyond its limits before being stopped in extremis by T'Met. The ship now drifts through unknown space, far from Earth.

TL;DR

After reappearing as if by miracle, Agnes Rodriguez summons Angie, T'Met, Tarsi, and Gomard to her office to take stock. Enterprise is badly damaged, the Special Fleet's chain of command has vanished, and Earth is probably lost. Despite Angie's objections, Agnes decides to reinstate President Macron and rebuild an autonomous command structure, making Enterprise humanity's new flying capital. She integrates Gomard into the Fleet as security chief and officially recognizes T'Met and Tarsi as attached officers. For the first time, humans and travelers from the future form a unified crew. But behind this new organization lies a troubling truth: they are alone, without a base, without reinforcements, and perhaps... the last survivors of humanity.

Story

My sudden appearance surprised everyone because I was supposed to be in sickbay, still in an artificial coma. After all, taking a burst of bullets to the chest and getting back on my feet barely two days later is humanly impossible. But here I am: I woke up and made my way to the bridge without the doctor's approval. He has been looking for me, and it doesn't take him long to find me in the corridors as I cross them on the way to my office.

Dr. Victor S. Calpel

Captain Rodriguez, where have you been?! In your condition, you have no business wandering the corridors as if nothing had happened!

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Thank you, Doctor, for your concern, but as you can see, I am doing fine.

Dr. Victor S. Calpel

That is exactly the problem: you are not supposed to be doing fine! Your wounds need to heal. I did not authorize your discharge, and I remind you that in this area, my authority outranks yours.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Doctor, go take care of your patients. I will come see you in an hour, and I promise that until then, I will not overdo it.

Dr. Victor S. Calpel

I'll be waiting for you in sickbay. And don't even think about dodging me.

Cmdr. Angie Chen Acting Capt.

Don't worry, Doctor. I'll make sure she gets there.

As we approach my office, I invite Angie, T'Met, and Tarsi to enter and take a seat. Before I can even close the door, Colonel Gomard, who just happens to be passing by, quickly comes over to speak to me.

Col. Robert Gomard Army

Agnes, you're already on your feet? How is that possible?

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

I have no explanation to give you. Your timing is perfect. We were about to start a meeting. Come in and sit down with the others.

Once the door is closed, a heavy silence settles over the office. Everyone looks at me as if I were a curiosity. I sit down and begin reading the log carefully to learn what happened while I was out since Friday. Meanwhile, Emilie, Charlene, and Manu send over the first reports on the state of the ship and crew. Although the reports are worrying, I am relieved to learn that we are no longer in immediate danger. After about ten minutes, I finally speak.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

To sum up the situation, Enterprise is in bad shape. We are in unknown space, and we no longer have a chain of command following the destruction of the starbase.

Cmdr. Angie Chen Acting Capt.

I see where you are going with this. You want to make me take the blame?

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

I have not accused you of anything. The loss of our command structure is not your fault. We are now on our own, and we must expect our crew to do whatever they want without worrying about the consequences.

Cmdr. Vexoriana-Lyss'ra Tarsi

Say, if I am not mistaken, you still have a president.

Cmdr. Angie Chen Acting Capt.

President Macron can only be reinstated by the provisional government, which has been decimated.

Cmdr. Vexoriana-Lyss'ra Tarsi

So what? Even if NATO and humanity have fallen, he is the last leader still alive.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

I will reinstate him myself. Since I have become the highest-ranking officer, that is now part of my responsibilities.

Cmdr. Angie Chen Acting Capt.

I object. You cannot take that initiative. There are still senior officials in our bunkers on Earth.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Tarsi told us what was going to happen. After the starbase, the Tholians will go after the bunkers. Besides, they had already started when we went to Moscow as part of the special operation with Colonel Gomard. For now, I consider us the last survivors of humanity. Our priority is to get the Enterprise operational again, and only then will we take the time to think about our future.

Cmdr. Angie Chen Acting Capt.

What are your orders?

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Robert, you and your men are now full members of this crew. I am putting you in charge of security.

Col. Robert Gomard Army

Wait... you're kidding, right? I'm not part of the Special Fleet.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

You are now. We absolutely need to preserve a command model suited to our situation, and I am counting on you to maintain order.

Col. Robert Gomard Army

Well, uh, if you say so. Looks like I don't have much of a choice.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Captain T'Met, Commander Tarsi... I'm adding you to the manifest as attached officers. You will resume the posts Angie assigned to you.

Capt. T'Met

What about my crew?

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

The survivors from Schak'Irra will also join Enterprise. Charlene will find a position for each of them.

Capt. T'Met

Your offer is generous, Captain Rodriguez, but I must first restore Tal'Kyr to working order.

Cmdr. Vexoriana-Lyss'ra Tarsi

Come on, T'Met! Tal'Kyr can wait. Restoring Enterprise must be our priority.

Capt. T'Met

Although it is not logical, Captain Rodriguez, I offer you my services.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

We live in a world of irrational logic where paradoxes are legion. Welcome aboard Enterprise.
