The Orion pirates, allied with the Ferengi Blunderbust Braggart, struck Zorek Spaceport by destroying Gornok's workshop. Caught off guard, Agnes Rodriguez triggers the alert aboard the Enterprise while Lingua tries to lock down access. But the saucer, deprived of power, remains vulnerable; the crew is isolated, and the invaders are already infiltrating the ship. Accompanied by T'Met and Gornok, the captain rushes toward the armory to organize the response.

TL;DR

Agnes, T'Met, and Gornok arm themselves to defend the Enterprise. Guided by Lingua, they move through the corridors until they find Tarsi and K'hoka in the middle of a bladed-weapon duel set to Black Betty. Red alert sounds again: the Orion pirates have freed the Enterprise from the docking arms, and three Orion privateers have just fired grapnels into the hull.

Story

Accompanied by Gornok and T'Met, I run through the deserted corridors of the ship toward the armory. Since a large part of the crew is confined because of the deployed security measures, I do not run into any of my officers who might help me repel the pirates. As we progress, Lingua clears the way by disabling the force fields and retracting the sealed bulkheads blocking our route. The flashing red lights and shrill sirens create an oppressive atmosphere, because every corner becomes a potential ambush.

Lingua

Audio channel

[beep] Captain Rodriguez, the armory is located in the next corridor on the left. The access door has been manually locked and you will need to use your access code to enter.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Understood, Lingua. Keep guiding us while helping us avoid the Orions.

Lingua

Audio channel

[beep] Several pirate groups are leaving my detection range. Lieutenant Savea must imperatively restore power to the saucer so I can trigger the alert in that sector of the ship and block the attackers.

Capt. T'Met

It is logical to think the Orions will seize the bridge. Which officers are currently on duty?

Lingua

Audio channel

[beep] The duty roster lists Science Attaché Manu, Lt. Cmdr. Corda, Ensign Flores, and Commander Chen.

Capt. T'Met

Did Commander Chen keep her combadge?

Lingua

Audio channel

[beep] No, Captain T'Met. All 26th-century Starfleet combadges you lent to the last away team were recovered and stored in supplies.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Here we are, the armory. Get in quickly and help yourselves.

Gornok

Grr... Gornok is not a soldier and does not know how to use these gadgets.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

They are not complicated to use. Extend your arm, aim, then fire.

Gornok

Gornok has never killed anyone, and today will not be the day that happens.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Do not worry about that. Our phasers are not powerful enough to kill.

Capt. T'Met

NATO phasers are ineffective. Where are the weapons we recovered from Schak'Irra?

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

I think they are in that container. Unfortunately, I do not have the padlock key on me.

Gornok

Move aside and let Gornok handle it. Nothing can resist him.

Gornok approaches the locked container, his massive muscles taut with effort. He grabs the padlock and pulls violently. The metal groans and cracks under the pressure until the latches give way with a sharp snap. He tosses the twisted piece of metal aside and opens the container with disconcerting ease. Inside, high-tech weapons from Schak'Irra are neatly stored.

Gornok

Good grief. Look at all this junk. What is this thing with the weird shapes?

Capt. T'Met

Take one each. It is a Quantum Phaser Mark IV, a far more sophisticated and precise version than NATO phasers. It uses quantum technology for accuracy and power capable of disintegrating targets at the molecular scale. It also has nonlethal settings for stunning or immobilizing.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Okay, T'Met. We set it to nonlethal mode. What are the other buttons for?

Capt. T'Met

The red button is intelligent auto-targeting mode, adaptable to various environments, from zero gravity to toxic atmospheres. As for the green button, it is instant recharge mode via quantum energy cells.

Gornok

We are not taking the other weapons? This one looks more powerful.

Capt. T'Met

No, the Excalibur plasma rifle was designed for large-scale military and security operations. Its use is not recommended inside a ship. However, we can take a few Thorium Force Field Projectors.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

I know those. We have the same ones.

Capt. T'Met

Indeed, but these have automatic adaptation capabilities against energy and kinetic threats, and above all, extended autonomy thanks to a thorium battery, which your triple-action energy domes do not have.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Thank you, T'Met. I already know our technology is not worth a thing compared with yours from the 26th century.

Capt. T'Met

It would be illogical to think otherwise, Captain Rodriguez.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Lingua, locate Gomard, Vitos, and Tarsi.

Lingua

Audio channel

[beep] I do not detect Colonel Gomard or Ensign Vitos. They are probably in the saucer. Commander Tarsi is in her quarters, on deck 5, located two levels above your current position.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

Perfect. We get Tarsi, then we head up to the bridge. Lingua, open the way. T'Met and Gornok, follow me.

Leaving the armory, we climb into a maintenance tunnel that takes us directly to deck 5. In the corridor, our little team hurries toward Tarsi's quarters. The closer we get, the louder a pounding noise becomes.

Gornok

Do you hear that tom-tom?

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

It sounds like someone is banging on the walls.

Capt. T'Met

The sound is produced in sequences of regular beats. It could be a message.

Once we arrive in front of the cabin, the noise is much louder. T'Met rings the door, but Tarsi does not answer. I use my access codes, and when the door slides open, deafening music blasts at full volume.

Standing in the doorway, Gornok, T'Met, and I are stunned by the scene. Tarsi and K'hoka are standing in the middle of the room, fighting with their bladed weapons. Tarsi with her ushaans, and K'hoka with her mek'leth. I rush to the screen and abruptly cut the music. The Andorian and the Orion woman freeze in their fighting stances and look at us sheepishly.

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

What the hell are you two doing?! We are at red alert!

Cmdr. Vexoriana-Lyss'ra Tarsi

Uh, we were exchanging views to get to know each other better. What do you mean, we are at red alert???

Gornok

A band of Orion pirates blew up my workshop, and now they have boarded your freighter!

K'hoka Khol'a

My God. They have come for me!

Capt. Agnes V. Rodriguez

We do not have time to discuss it. Tarsi, K'hoka, take these phasers. The Orion pirates are not going to wait for you to finish your choreography before seizing the Enterprise!

Lingua

[beep] Captain Rodriguez, I inform you that the Enterprise has been released from the dock's mooring arms and that three Orion privateers have just launched grapnels onto the hull.
